BARISTA JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Promotes coffee consumption by educating customers;
selling and explaining a variety of coffees, coffee drinks, pastries, and other menu items. The barista is actively seeking to provide a better customer experience by continually growing personally in coffee knowledge, brewing techniques, and delivery of the end product.
BARISTA JOB DUTIES
- Welcomes customers pleasantly and enthusiastically as soon as possible, providing a positive experience for the customer from the moment they enter.
- Educates customers by presenting and explaining the various coffees and coffee drink menu; answering questions as needed.
- Prepares and serves coffee drinks by following prescribed recipes and preparation techniques for all drinks.
- Shows competency while operating the equipment, steams milk appropriately, keeps espresso grinding and pulling within spec, and produces orders efficiently and accurately with speed.
- Communicates with front end service representatives for assistance/needs, etc.
- Maintains a clean and tidy workspace at all times. This includes equipment, tables (inside and outside), countertops, utensils, and floors in the work area. On slow shifts and/or closing, maintain the bathroom area as needed, walls, windows, and filling sugars and napkins and the like.
- Maintains inventories on the coffee bar and the merchandise shelves, such as cups, lids, straws, coffee beans, syrups, sleeves etc. Essentially anything that is needed to prepare a drink or sell a retail product.
- Updates job knowledge by educating when possible; reading coffee, retail trade, following trends, and striving to be the best.
- Enhances coffee shop reputation by accepting ownership of accomplishments and accepting new requests; exploring opportunities to add value to Imprint Coffee Roasting co.
- Arrives to each shift on time and is ready to work.
- Takes instruction from management to complete any tasks needed within job description.
- Listen to customer orders clearly when making orders, and accurately prepare the orders when fulfilling.
- Follows the necessary checklists
BARISTA SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
Listening, verbal communication, customer focus, customer service, self-starter, eager to learn, ready to work fast, ability to keep busy during slower times, and reliable. Absolutely must work well under pressure and must be a team player.
