JOB TITLE BARISTA
REPORTS TO: STORE MANAGER
RANGE: $18.00 - $22.25
STATUS: HOURLY; NON-EXEMPT
Nisqually Markets LLC is seeking a Barista for our Nisqually Markets. Nisqually Markets LLC is a subsidiary of the Medicine Creek Enterprise Corporation, which operates retail, gasoline and convenience stores in Thurston and Pierce Counties. We are growing rapidly with the muchanticipated opening of several new stores.
Required Skills & Knowledge
- Must be 18 years old or older as this store sells tobacco products (Except Camas Coffee House)
- 6 months experience in high volume espresso shop within the past 3 years
- Consistency and quality drink preparation
- Exceptional customer service
- High school diploma or equivalent is preferred
- Ability to follow directions and recipes
- Ability to communicate as a team positively
- Open availability - able to work all shifts; hours can vary between 4:00 AM to 10:00 PM; 7 days per week
- Comply with all health and safety regulations.
- Must be able to use small commercial oven and microwave equipment
- Must be able to properly serve food by food safety regulations
- Follow all cleaning tasks for barista area as well as following all proper cleaning for all equipment
- Must be able to pass a pre-employed drug screen (excluding marijuana)
- Must be able to pass background check
- Have or obtain Washington State food handlers permit within 14 days of employment

Preferred Skills and Knowledge:
- Ability to maintain accurate records of various transactions including receipts, refunds, etc.
- Possess basic math skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to resolve customer disputes
- Knowledge of Tribal, Federal and State ordinances and laws regarding the sale of alcohol, tobacco and other age-controlled products
- Ability to train in all aspects of C-store operations including fuel, deli, freight and supervision
Essential Functions of the Job:
- Processes a variety of transactions including cash, credit and debit card processing
- Provides exceptional customer service
- Possess keen product knowledge and the ability to “up sell” products
- Provides customers with promotional deals and value of Nisqually Markets App.
- Stocking behind registers and handling food safely.
- Prepares routine shift reports and checks for accuracy
- Maintain cleanliness of the store and property
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged standing
- Ability to lift and move heavy idents such as cash drawers, products, etc.
- Able to bend and stoop repeatedly to assist customers, scan an assist in other areas
- Ability to reach over their shoulders frequently
- Ability to work outside in a variety of conditions
- Must possess manual dexterity to perform register functions
Environment:
This job operates indoors in a Convenience Store (C-store); Routinely uses standard cashiering equipment (registers, time delay safes, credit card processors, phones, etc.
Travel Requirements:
- Occasional travel to workshops, conferences, trainings and corporate meetings
- Ability to travel to other NM locations to assist as staffing requires
