Full-Time Museum Facilities Technician
The San Diego Air & Space Museum in Balboa Park seeks a full-time Facilities Technician to join our outstanding team. Spend your workdays around some of the most important air- and spacecraft from the dawn of human flight through today, while helping maintain the historic landmark 1935 Ford Building!

Position Summary Facilities Technicians provide maintenance and custodial services to the Museum as assigned by the Facilities Manager. In addition to typical Facilities work, Facilities Technicians work in support of the Education, Special Events, and Curatorial departments on projects ranging from providing one of San Diego’s most iconic event venues, to changing exhibits of historically important aircraft and aviation-related objects. The technician will bring intermediate skills in one or more building trades: the ability to fix technical equipment, painting of building areas, minor electrical work, and other duties as assigned. This position will offer opportunities to learn additional skills and earn or maintain equipment operating licenses. The Museum is a safety-first workplace. This is a full-time, hourly (non-exempt), daytime position.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Learn and follow Museum-specific practices for working near and with the Historical Collection and Historic Building, and around Museum visitors.
- Perform preventative maintenance on motion rides, air compressors, portable air conditioners and dehumidifiers, and other equipment.
