Position: Hardy Plant Manager Location: Percy Throwers Garden Centre part of the Blue Diamond Group Hours: Full-time, 42.5 hours per week, including alternate weekends Salary: Competitive depending on experience Why Join Us? The Role: We are seeking a commercially minded and horticulturally passionate Hardy Plant Manager to lead our hardy plants department to new heights. You will be responsible for the end-to-end management of our hardy plants offering, from stock selection and quality control to visual merchandising and team leadership. This is a unique opportunity to blend your horticultural knowledge with retail expertise. Key Responsibilities: Sales & Profitability: Drive sales and maximise profitability through strategic planning, data analysis, and effective stock management. Plant Quality & Care: Ensure all plants meet the highest standards of health, presentation, and display; oversee care routines and seasonal planning. Visual Merchandising: Design and implement inspiring displays that attract customers and create an aspirational shopping experience. Team Leadership: Manage, motivate, and train a high-performing team, ensuring outstanding customer service and a positive working environment. Operations: Oversee daily department operations, ensuring high standards of housekeeping, health and safety compliance, and stock control. Customer Engagement: Provide expert plant advice to customers, helping them choose the right plants and care for them successfully. Commercial Awareness: Monitor sales trends, recognise opportunities, and adapt merchandising and stock levels to maximise performance. About You: Proven experience in garden centre or horticultural retail management, ideally with knowledge of hardy plants, perennials, shrubs, and trees. Strong commercial acumen and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret sales data and forecast trends. Exceptional leadership and communication skills, capable of inspiring a shared vision across your team and other departments. A flair for creativity and attention to detail in merchandising, presentation, and visual displays. Adaptability and problem-solving skills to thrive in a fast-paced, varied environment. A genuine passion for plants and a customer-centric approach to retail.
