Retail Associate

Mackenzies Bakery is seeking a retail associate to work the front and back of the retail space. ### Primary Responsibilities
- Greet customers in a pleasant and helpful manner
- Take and fill bakery orders for customers
- Operate point of sale (POS) systems when customers pay for their bakery items
- Verify that customers who have communicated food allergies are not sold products that could be dangerous to their health
- Answer customer questions about all aspects of the baked goods
- Apply ingredient tags and price tags to pre-baked foods and other retail items
- Arrange muffins, rolls and other baked goods in an attractive manner in the display cases and on shelves and counters
- Make certain that displays are always fully stocked with merchandise
- Ensure displayed baked goods are fresh and remove any that may be stale
- Keep all work and customer areas sanitary, including counters, seating areas and bathrooms
- Assist bakers with measuring ingredients, mixing dough, pouring batter and other basic duties as needed

### Requirements and Preferred Skills
- Previous retail experience a plus
- Experience operating social media platforms a plus
- Visual/window merchandising experience a plus
- Familiarity with POS (point of sale) systems and the interest in learning new technologies
- Outstanding customer service skills
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Ability to skillfully upsell product
- Cheerful working attitude
- Ability to work a flexible schedule
- Capable of multi-tasking
- Dependability is a must
