About This Role
Of all the things you need to know as you join us, the most important is this: Employees are the most valuable asset to any company. It may sound cheesy, but its true. Years of dreaming, planning, and hard work have gone into this project, and while we have a physical place for customers to sit and a kitchen and bar meticulously fitted with top notch equipment, none of the dreams are possible without great employees. We need you, and we are glad you are part of the team. Cedar Coffee Company is about more than just good coffee and food. Its about serving and connecting to both the local and global community in healthy and productive ways. To do that well we need more than to build a physical space, we need to cultivate an internal community working together to accomplish something beautiful. It’s important that you feel respected, cared for, appreciated and know that you belong here. We hire staff because we think they fit into the culture we want to cultivate: a team who cares about good coffee, good food, working hard together, maintaining our recognized customer service, making an impact on our local community and trying to have some fun in the process. Thanks for your interest in working for cedar coffee. The bar and kitchen are built with specific “areas” and each “area” has a general role with certain responsibilities in order to maximize space and efficiency. The roles and duties listed below are not comprehensive, nor are they delineated as presented. They flow into one another, but are written in order to give a sense of what is expected of every employee. There is no designations on the schedule for specific roles - no one is scheduled to be the cashier, or the barista, etc. While you may gravitate towards one role or another, make sure you know how to perform them all. It is the responsibility of everyone working to help each other out and make sure service is consistent and efficient. If a drink needs to be made, make a drink. If a sandwich needs to be made, make a sandwich. If tables need to be wiped down, wipe them down. Work as a team. As a barista you will be preparing drinks and presenting latte art when necessary. You’ll help maintain a sanitary work environment and keep the area stocked.
