About This Role
The Delivery Driver is responsible for safely and efficiently delivering bakery products to wholesale customers during the night shift, while ensuring accurate order fulfillment, timely deliveries, and professional customer service. This position includes loading product, verifying orders, unloading deliveries, handling delivery paperwork, and returning empty trays, racks, or other equipment to the bakery. The Delivery Driver plays an important role in maintaining on-time delivery performance, product quality, and strong customer relationships.
Key Responsibilities
Delivery and Route Duties
- Safely operate company delivery trucks to transport bakery products to wholesale customer locations during scheduled night routes.
- Deliver orders accurately and on time according to assigned routes and delivery schedules.
- Load trucks with bakery products, trays, racks, and related delivery materials prior to departure.
- Verify that all products, quantities, and delivery documents match customer orders before leaving the facility.
- Unload products at customer locations and place deliveries in designated receiving areas as required.
- Pick up and return empty trays, racks, baskets, or other bakery equipment from customer locations.
- Follow established delivery routes while adjusting for traffic, weather, road conditions, or operational needs as directed.
Customer Service and Communication
- Provide professional and courteous service when interacting with customer receiving staff, store personnel, or account contacts.
- Obtain signatures, delivery confirmations, or proof of delivery as required.
- Report delivery issues, shortages, damaged product, customer concerns, or route delays to management promptly.
- Maintain positive relationships with customer accounts through reliable and professional service.
Vehicle and Safety Responsibilities
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of assigned delivery vehicles.
- Report vehicle maintenance issues, safety concerns, accidents, or mechanical problems immediately.
