Assistant Shop Manager

The Assistant Shop Manager at WJ Castle Butchers & Delicatessen is responsible for maintaining the quality, standards, and customer service within the shop. In the absence of the Shop Manager, the Assistant Shop Manager will oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring efficient stock management, margin control, waste reduction, and adherence to company standards.

**Key Responsibilities:**
- Manage the shop during the absence of the Shop Manager, ensuring smooth operations.
- Maintain proper stock management and rotation to optimize freshness and minimize waste.
- Monitor and manage profit margins to meet company targets.
- Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene within the shop.
- Assist in the training and development of team members.
- Ensure compliance with all company standards and policies.

**Qualifications and Skills:**
- Minimum of 5 years of butchery experience.
- 2 years of customer service experience.
- Level 2 health and hygiene certification desirable.
- Previous managerial experience is preferable but not essential.
- Experience working in a delicatessen or hospitality environment is a plus.

**Salary and Benefits:**
- Salary: £28,000 per year based on a 45-hour working week.
