About This Role
Wait staff (also known as a waiter, waitress or servers) are employed in cafes, bars, restaurants, hotels, resorts and cruise ships. They’re required to take orders, serve food and be attentive and accommodating to guests. Restaurant waiters specialising in wine are called sommeliers. The sommelier’s role is to develop wine lists in line with menu offerings, train other waiters in the wine service, and provide recommendations to patrons in accordance with their budget and menu choices. The manager of a venue’s wait staff is called the head waiter.
