About This Role

Reports to: The Coffee House Manager
Works closely with: Coffee House Manager, barista team, volunteers, and the public
Weekly Hours: 10 – 20 hours
Hourly Wage: $16.90/hour
Purpose of Position: The Coffee House Barista is responsible for providing excellent customer service while preparing high-quality beverages and maintaining a welcoming and efficient Coffee House environment. This role supports daily operations, engages with guests, and volunteers, and contributes to a positive, team-oriented culture that reflects North Coast Church’s core values.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):
1. Customer Service and Hospitality
Deliver a friendly, welcoming, and efficient customer experience for all guests. Support and encourage volunteers, contributing to a positive and engaging team culture. Maintain a clean, organized, and inviting Coffee House environment.

2. Team Collaboration
Work collaboratively with staff and volunteers to ensure smooth daily operations. Support and encourage volunteers, contributing to a positive and engaging team culture. Communicate clearly with team members to ensure efficiency during high-volume service times.

3. Operations
Accurately handle cash and point-of-sale transactions. Follow procedures related to food safety, cleanliness, and equipment use. Assist with opening and closing duties, including setup, breakdown, and cleaning. Restock inventory and supplies as needed throughout shifts. Help maintain organization and cleanliness of storage areas and service counters.

4. Weekend and Event Support
Assist with high-volume service during weekend church services and special events. Contribute to store profitability to increase sales and maintaining inventory. Help ensure efficient customer flow and a positive guest experience during peak times. Support volunteer teams in executing drink preparation, food service, and general upkeep. Ensure point-of-sale system, safety and operational procedures are performed accurately.

Qualifications/Strengths/Gifts:
Personal: Staff members must have a healthy relationship with Jesus and a commitment to North Coast Church vision and values. Staff members at North Coast Church are committed to honoring God with their relationships, sexuality, drugs, alcohol, and lifestyle choices as called for in the scriptures.
Professional: Will obtain Food Handlers Certificate within 30 days of employment. Proven organizational and communication skills with strong attention to detail. Ability to work in a fast paced, team-oriented environment. Prior customer service or food/beverage experience preferred, but not required.
Physical Demands (if any): This position requires the ability to lift and move 20+ lbs. and sustained standing and walking throughout the workday. Comfortable working in a fast-paced, active environment.
