Explore Team Leader

Location: Tang Hall Explore Contract type: Permanent Part time: 14 hours Salary: £28,128.88 (£10,643.36 pro rata) Tang Hall Explore opened in 2018 and has grown from strength to strength. We have created a safe welcoming accessible, flexible space that suits the needs of the local community – a space for people to meet, reflect, take part in cultural activities, drop in for advice on a particular area or just to be. We are now looking for someone to lead the current team of staff and volunteers at Tang Hall Explore Library as a job-share. The ideal candidate will be working with community partners and customers both current and future as we are constantly evolving and growing our offer. We are looking for someone who is able to put excellence and quality at the heart of the service – someone with a high level of customer service skills, and also with the ability to communicate effectively with and steer partners. You will be responsible for continuing to grow the usage, think creatively to problem-solve, be able to come up with ideas and follow those ideas through to reality. As well as being responsible for the day to day running of the library, you will also be responsible for the line management of a team of Reading and Learning Advisors. You must be able to foster a team spirit whilst guiding and supporting your colleagues. You must be an excellent communicator, have good organisational skills and be able to work to deadlines, delivering on the KPIs. You must be committed to libraries and passionate about the difference they make to their local communities. Tang Hall Explore includes a portfolio of Gateway libraries: Strensall, Bishopthorpe, Dunnington and Mobile Library so it is essential that you are able to travel to these locations. This post will give you the opportunity to work and develop the communities using the library, working with the partners and the community in Tang Hall to develop a service that meets their needs. Working Pattern The candidate will be expected to work flexibly across Tang Hall Explore’s opening hours, including evenings and weekends. Explore York Libraries and Archives deliver the library and archive service on behalf of City of York Council, so we are an independent organisation. We do this across a network of 17 libraries and reading cafes across the City, of which Tang Hall Explore Library is one. We have a board of Trustees who work with us to grow and develop us as a high quality, well-respected library and archive service.
