Reading and Learning Advisor

Location: Tang Hall Explore Contract type: Permanent Part time: 15.5 hours Salary: £10,840.70 (pro rata) We are looking for an enthusiastic and outgoing individual to join the team at Tang Hall Explore Centre. The ideal candidate will have excellent customer service skills and the ability to respond effectively to a wide range of enquiries. You will be confident, adaptable, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment while consistently delivering a high-quality service. You must really enjoy working with people and engaging with the local community, as well as supporting a variety of activities. This includes contributing to our social media presence and sharing your passion for books and reading, with people of all ages. We are looking for a team player who can also take ownership of individual projects. You will need to share our vision and actively promote the services and values of Explore York Libraries and Archives. Tang Hall Explore includes a portfolio of Gateway libraries: Strensall, Bishopthorpe, Dunnington and Mobile Library so it is essential that you are able to travel to these locations. This particular vacancy includes every Friday afternoon at Bishopthorpe Library 2-5pm. This role requires flexibility, with working hours spread across 7 days. Explore York Libraries and Archives deliver the library and archive service on behalf of City of York Council, so we are an independent organisation. We do this across a network of 17 libraries and reading cafes across the City, of which Tang Hall Explore Library is one. We have a board of Trustees who work with us to grow and develop us as a high quality, well-respected library and archive service.
