Part-time Host/Server
Key Details
About This Role
Our team is the best and we’re looking for one more part-time people-person to complete the crew! If you’re friendly, quick on your feet, and love helping guests have a great time, we'd love to hear from you!
What You'll Do:
As a Host/Server, you’ll wear a lot of hats. Your day-to-day will include:
- Greeting guests and making them feel as welcome as if HH was your own home.
- Introducing new guests to the space, including the game library, Miss Honey's Cottage and the pottery painting processes (don’t worry, we’ll show you the ropes).
- Serving food and drinks with a smile (and accuracy).
- Preparing an extensive specialty coffee and drinks menu (yes, including Crazy Shakes!).
- Keeping the space clean and organized - you won’t walk past a fallen napkin or paint splat without taking care of it.
- Stocking supplies, staying on top of cafe inventory, and making sure everything runs as smoothly as possible.
- Answering phones, handling takeout orders and calling customers when required.
- Cleaning and sanitizing tables/chairs, floors, counters, appliances, bathrooms, etc.
What We’re Looking For:
Essential requirements for this position include:
- A positive attitude and sense of humour is an absolute must - we share a small space with our guests and co-workers so a friendly, drama-free, solutions-first vibe is very important!
- A knack for building rapport with guests and teammates.
- Self-motivation and the ability to see and complete tasks that must be done without being asked (once trained).
- Great manners and a conscientious personality - for example if someone leaves a too-big tip by mistake, you’ll let them know!
- Creativity and a love for fun ideas.
- Ability to handle stressful situations (like the cafe filling up suddenly) with a cool head.
- Familiarity with the Mount Stewart and surrounding areas - we often have new visitors to the area and we like to be able to answer their questions!
- Must be 19+ and have a valid Responsible Beverage Server certificate before starting.
- Must be able to work on your feet and maintain high energy for the duration of shifts.
- Customer service, Square for Restaurants, retail or event hosting experience are big assets.
Working Hours:
- Part-time: 2-3 shifts per week (open Thursday to Sunday with extended hours during holidays, school breaks and summer)
- Our peak season dates are March Break, July, August, and some winter holidays. Must be able to commit to working those periods.
Pay and Perks:
- From $18/hr + tips, with increases as you grow into the role.
- Staff discounts.
- Flexible dress code.
- Amazing guests and teammates.
- A casual but professional environment where we love to laugh.
