About This Role

The Danish Canadian National Museum's Saga Cafe is located in the main building of the Museum and serves traditional Danish cuisine. The Kitchen Manager will work with the Museum Manager to set and price the regular menu and order all supplies required to operate the kitchen within established budgets. They will work with the Manager to set prices for specialty catering requests. They will oversee and participate in the production of food within the kitchen to ensure quality and adherence to Food Safety Standards. The Kitchen Manager will work with the Museum Manager and the Volunteer and Special Events Committee to set menus for special events and procure all supplies required for food at special events. They will work with the Food Service Workers, volunteers and other staff to produce all food for special events as. The Kitchen Manager will provide training to staff and volunteers on the production of Danish food and baking served in the Saga Cafe. ​ The successful candidate must be eligible for Canada Summer Jobs funding. They should have excellent written and oral communications skills and be comfortable speaking to guests. The successful candidate will have previous experience in a leadership role. Any knowledge of Danish cuisine and baking is an asset. Foodsafe and ProServe certifications are an asset. They will be comfortable both working as part of a team and independently. Studies in Hospitality and Tourism or culinary programs are preferred but not required. ​ Wages will be $19.00 an hour with an expected work week of 37.5 hours. Weekend work will be required.
