About This Role
The Hostess is responsible for providing a warm and friendly welcome to guests, managing reservations, and ensuring a smooth flow of guests into the dining area. This role plays a key part in creating a positive first impression and setting the tone for guests' dining experience by maintaining an organized and efficient seating process.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Guest Reception
- Greet guests warmly as they arrive and thank them as they leave.
- Assist guests with seating preferences and accommodate special requests whenever possible.
- Manage the waiting list and notify guests when their table is ready.
- Reservation Management
- Handle incoming reservation calls, emails, and online bookings.
- Maintain and update the reservation system with accurate guest information and special requests.
- Confirm reservations and follow up with guests regarding changes or cancellations.
- Seating Coordination
- Coordinate with the service team to ensure timely seating and efficient table turnover.
- Maintain awareness of table availability, server assignments, and dining room layout.
- Communicate effectively with guests and servers to manage expectations and resolve seating issues.
- Customer Service
- Provide menus and inform guests of daily specials or promotions.
- Answer guest inquiries regarding menu items, restaurant policies, and local attractions.
- Handle guest complaints with professionalism and escalate issues to management as needed.
- Maintaining Front-of-House Appearance
- Ensure the reception area is clean, organized, and inviting for guests.
- Monitor restroom cleanliness and notify appropriate staff for maintenance.
- Team Collaboration
- Collaborate with other hostesses and restaurant staff to maintain a cohesive and efficient front-of-house operation.
- Assist with other duties as needed, including bussing tables, taking coats, or assisting servers during busy periods.
- Upselling and Promotion
- Promote special events, promotions, and menu items to guests during their visit.
- Encourage guests to join loyalty programs or subscribe to newsletters for future promotions and updates.
Requirements and Skills
- Graduate or equivalent.
- Previous experience of Hostess is mandatory in a fine dine / Michelin restaurant or hospitality environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Professional appearance and demeanor.
- Multitasking and task oriented.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of Reservation systems and Basic computer skills.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
